Mar 4 2011 Impressive start by Byron Nelson High School Golf
Byron Nelson High School Varsity Girls took 1st place at the 4A Regional Preview held at Diamondback Golf Course in Abilene on February 25 & 26, 2011. The two-day tournament, hosted by Granbury High School, was a remarkable beginning for the Bobcats’ spring season.
BNHS Girls finished the tournament with a team total of 661 securing two of the top three individual honors: Maty Monzingo in Medalist 1st place with a two-day total of 148 (74, 74) and Rainy Manor in third with 158 (78, 80). Julia Bazaldua of Mansfield Summit High School finished second with a total score of 153 (75,78). Wichita Falls High finished in second with a team total of 707 and Aledo High School took third with 708.
The Byron Nelson Varsity Boys made a strong spring debut with an outstanding second place finish, only five strokes behind Aledo High School’s two-day total of 623. With first day scores of 76, 76, 77, 79, BNHS was in position to strike on day two but came up just short. Frenship High School finished third on a windy second day of solid golf. The boys district 4A will be a hard fought battle to advance to the regional and state tournaments.
