Sep 22 2009 Robert Lee Boys Poised To Make Another Run
The Robert Lee boys golf team looks to be in a good position to repeat as 1A state champs. All players from last years team, except Mason Ross (finished 3rd individually) return to tee it up for the 09/10 season. The Dogies won the state 1A title last year by a whopping 35 shots over 2nd place Gruver. They also won state in ‘08 winning by a skimpy 21 shots over Iraan.

(2009 State Champions - L to R: Foster Allen, Logan Philley, Mason Ross, Haden Dillard, Cody Brosh, Coach Wayne Alexander)
As a freshman in 2008 Logan Philley took 2nd place individual honors and as a sophomore this past season claimed the top spot firing a 69-71 to win by seven. Coach Alexander feels that basically having his entire team intact from last years state championship team gives him an advantage that not too many coaches can lay claim to. “Everybody looks at golf as an individual sport which it is, but you can’t overlook the team element found in high school and college and having virtually all of my guys back after they experienced what they did last year as a team really excites me.” - Robert Lee head coach Steve Alexander
