Churchill, Eagle Pass defend titles at Brown

It was a successful title defense for the San Antonio Churchill Chargers.
Three of the Chargers’ “Red” team shot below 80 Saturday and helped Churchill defend its champions bracket title at the Del Rio High School Brown Automotive Boys Golf Invitational Tournament.
Saturday’s final round of the championship bracket was played on the San Felipe Country Club course. While the players faced a slight wind and cool temperatures all day, the fast greens caused most of the golfers to shoot a higher score on the tournament’s second day.
Only the team’s top four individual scores from each day were used to determine the team’s total score for that day.
Churchill finished Saturday’s final round with a team score of 317 and won the championship with a two-day total of 622.

Cinco Ranch Boys & Girls Golfers Both Win First at River Ridge
The Cougar Boy & Girl Varsity Golf Teams both were champions at the Katy Taylor HS River Ridge Challenge held on October 30-31, 2009. The boys shot 297-302 to win by 11 strokes over Houston Memorial and their national star Cory Whitsett. The girls shot 337-334 to win by 38 strokes over Seven Lakes HS.

Cinco Ranch Cougar Girl Golfers Win 2nd Place at ConCan on the Frio
The Cinco Ranch H.S. Cougar girl golfers traveled an hour and a half west of San Antonio to compete in the San Antonio Northside ISD Invitational at ConCan Country Club on the Frio River. The girls captured the 2nd place team trophy against teams from around the whole state. They shot a 349-334 on a very challenging course. Round Rock McNeil won first with a 339-327, and Victoria Memorial won third by shooting 349-351 which was 17 strokes behind the Cougars. Temple came in fourth...
Robert Lee Boys Poised To Make Another Run
The Robert Lee boys golf team looks to be in a good position to repeat as 1A state champs. All players from last years team, except Mason Ross (finished 3rd individually) return to tee it up for the 09/10 season. The Dogies won the state 1A title last year by a whopping 35 shots over 2nd place Gruver. They also won state in ‘08 winning by a skimpy 21 shots over Iraan.
School Spotlight: Johnson High
Johnson is a new school only in their second year in existence. After rapid improvement in their inaugural season, the teams are excited and have post district play in their sites. The program has doubled in size over the last year and their is a buzz about an exciting future.
The 2009 Bart Granger Has A Very Exciting Finish
San Antonio Reagan HS lived up to its’ nickname, “The Rattlers”, as they put a venomous snake bite on the Hamilton HS Huskies from Chandler, AZ in the 2009 edition of the Bart Granger Memorial Golf Tournament. After the 36-hole first day results on Friday, Hamilton held a 7-stroke advantage— shooting (283-280 = 563) to Reagan’s (288-282 = 570), and seemed in control to win the championship.
Southlake Carroll Ready to Rock!
Coach Matt Glenn said his team is ready to rock and roll and he has plenty of reason to be excited. With eleven players returning from a solid boys team and ten players returning on a girls team that has won back-to-back state championships, Southlake Carroll looks poised to make some noise again this year.
12th annual Bart Granger Memorial Golf Tournament to be played September 18th-19th 2009
The annual Bart Granger Memorial Tournament has a reputation - one it deserves. The two-day event is the largest high school golf tournament in the country, and arguably one of the most prestigious. Fort Worth Paschal High School hosts the tournament each year. The event is named after a former PHS golfer who was killed in a car accident in 1997.
