Biography

My name is Megan Pasteryk. I have played golf for over 3 years and have taken lessons for two and a half. My coaches have been Lori Brock, Top 50 National Instructor and former LPGA player, and I am currently under the instruction of Bruce Smith, Director of Instruction at Brookhaven Country Club and has qualified for multiple PGA Championships. During the summer of my sophomore year I changed swing coaches and dramatically changed my swing. During this process I went from hitting my 8 iron 110 yards to 145 yards and took a weak fade to a straight or power draw shot. I have also become a lot more accurate during this process. At the start of my freshman year I was shooting in the 120's, now I shoot in the high 70's low 80's. This summer my best practice round has been a 75 and my best tournament round has been a 79. My academics are just as important to me as my golf game is. I have a 4.0 GPA and on my SAT I scored a 1730. I practice almost every day and have really been focusing on my short game this past summer.

Highlights

I won three tournaments my junior year in the NTGPA medalist division and won an All-American Tour event as well. In my high school golf career I lettered my freshman, sophomore and junior years and went to the State Competition my freshman and sophomore years. In addition to competing to the state team I was also named "Second Team All-District" my sophomore and junior years and "Second Team All-Region" my sophomore year. This past year I was also named "Most Improved" on my team.

Academics

My academics are just as important to me as my golf game is, and I put in equal amounts of work in on both. I am graduating on the DAP (Distinguished Academic Plan) for my high school and I have a 4.0 GPA. I have taken 3 years of Spanish, put in over 100 community service hours since being in high school, and I am currently taking an AP Calculus class and three college classes as dual credit. I scored a 1730 on my SAT and plan to take my ACT in September of this upcoming year.
